What Does Cologne Mean in a Perfume Name? Eau de Cologne and Cologne Intense in 32 Perfumes in Kuwait

The short answer: The word “Cologne” in a perfume name does not always point to the same label. In our store, as of 16 October 2026, it appears in the names of 32 in-stock perfumes from 10 brands, priced from 29.450 KWD (30 ml) to 198.100 KWD: 11 labelled Eau de Cologne, 7 with the word Cologne on its own, 9 from the Cologne Intense collection by Jo Malone London, and 5 where the word is part of the perfume’s name.
Four uses of the word Cologne in our perfume names
The label “Eau de Cologne”
It appears in 11 names (Arabic or English) from Acqua di Parma, Hermès, Atkinsons and Bvlgari. The description of Hermès Eau de Citron Noir Eau de Cologne, 100ml calls it “a fresh cologne from the Hermès cologne collection”, and the Acqua di Parma perfumes carry the Italian word “Colonia” in their line names, such as Acqua di Parma Colonia Eau de Cologne. In Bvlgari Eau Parfumée au Thé Noir Intense Eau de Cologne the words “Intense” and “Eau de Cologne” meet in one name, and its description calls it “an intensified, refined version of the house’s signature tea blend”.
The word “Cologne” on its own
7 perfumes: four by Jo Malone London such as Orange Marmalade Cologne, Dior Eau Sauvage Cologne 100 ml and Dior Homme Cologne, and ALLURE HOMME SPORT Cologne Spray by Chanel. The two Dior descriptions write the type as “Cologne (Eau de Cologne)”, and two Jo Malone London descriptions mention “the light cologne concentration”.
“Cologne Intense” by Jo Malone London
9 perfumes whose descriptions either name the Cologne Intense collection or describe a higher or more intense concentration, such as “more depth and longevity than the classic cologne concentration” in the description of Oud & Bergamot Cologne Intense Eau de Parfum. Four of them also carry the Eau de Parfum label.
The word as part of the perfume’s name
In 5 perfumes the word is part of the name, and four of them are labelled Eau de Parfum: Creed Aventus Cologne Eau de Parfum, Henry Creed Viking Cologne Eau de Parfum, Matière Première Cologne Cédrat Eau de Parfum, 100ml and Ex Nihilo Cologne 352 Eau de Parfum, plus Acqua di Parma Colonia Il Profumo Millesimato. The description of Aventus Cologne says it presents Aventus “in a lighter, fresher form”, and that of Cologne Cédrat says it “reinvents the structure of the classic cologne”.
The Atelier Cologne perfumes (22 in stock) were not counted, because there “Cologne” is part of the house name, and all their names in our store carry the Eau de Parfum label.

The description of Triple Extract calls it “a richer, more concentrated version of the house’s classic cologne”, and its list of notes adds galbanum to the notes of the base version. At Creed the description of Aventus Cologne does not state its size, so it was not compared on price with Aventus.
